Maya Carbajal Alex-Hansen was born and raised in Madrid. She is a daughter of an Argentine father and a Danish mother. She studied at High School of Fashion Design in Madrid and graduated with honors in 2002. In February 2002 she presented her first collection in Barcelona Gaudí Fashion Show.
Brand Maya Hansen was born in 2004. In 2006 the designer began to specialize in corsetière. In 2010 she debuted in Madrid Fashion Week. Her next collection Lace Wings Spring Summer 2011 received L'Oreal Award as the best collection of a young designer.
The collection Autumn Winter 2011 Queens of Spain had a worldwide impact and Lady Gaga used several of its models. This success gave Maya the opportunity to present her collection Knotted Spring Summer 2012 at the Cibeles Madrid Fashion Show, which is the most important fashion event in Spain.
The Autumn Winter 5th Avenue collection was the first collection presented at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid and later in fashion week in Paris in 2012. It was inspired by the 5th Avenue of New York and was a kind of Dior New Look collection with references to the red carpet, Hollywood actresses and black and white movies.
In 2012 she was admitted to the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain (ACME) and presented her collection Skully Tulum which was inspired by flora, fauna, colors and lights of Mexico, Frida Kahlo, in the skulls and virgins. In 2014 she was selected as a finalist for the National Spanish Award in the category Fashion Designer New Value.
She dressed celebrities like Lady Gaga and Paz Vega. Fashion editors and renowned photographers, such as Mario Testino used Maya Hansen´s clothes for their filming.
In 2012 she was admitted to the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain (ACME).
